Year 4

Year 4 are currently working towards their Multiplication Check tests which take place in June. This is a national test to determine whether Year 4 pupils can fluently recall their times tables and to help schools identify children who need further support. It will be administered digitally using computers. Each child will answer 25 questions, each question having a 6 second time limit. All questions will be multiplication only with the 6,7,8,9 and 12 times tables being targeted in particular although other times tables will be tested too. We are hosting a meeting for parents on Wednesday February 26th from 5.30pm - 6.00pm where we will give you more information, ideas for supporting children and answer any questions you may have.

Your child can use the following site to have a go at a replica test to get a taste for the real thing:

https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/477/Multiplication-Tables-Check

It is also great to practise on Times Tables Rock Stars using the Soundcheck option as this replicates the time allocated for each question.

Welcome to Year 4!

Common Exception Words. By the end of Year 4, all children should be able to read and spell all of the common exception words on the document above. You could help your child at home to practise reading them and practise writing them, before moving onto writing them in sentences.
