Head Teacher's Message and Welcome

Welcome to Blackrod Church School

Blackrod Anglican / Methodist Primary School, to give us our Sunday name, is a church school with a Christian foundation at the heart of our community. We are a one-form entry primary school with full time nursery and "wrap-around care" facility, called WHAM (Warm Hearts, Active Minds - available to all our children at whatever age, every week day - 51 weeks of the year - please see the separate tab). Our key school values are Grace, Love and Fellowship, based on the prayer - The Grace, which we use regularly in school. These values guide everything we do with and for each other in and beyond our school community.

We strive for the highest possible standards of achievement, learning and development, as well as believing passionately that every child is invaluably precious,  unique with special talents and tremendous potential for us to explore and unlock. Our children thrive in the warm, nurturing environment that we provide based on our family ethos.

In September 2014, we opened our DREAMS classroom which is a specialist, resourced ASD provision. We are incredibly proud to have been asked by the local authority to offer this facility as one of only three schools in Bolton.

Our curriculum is designed to have the highest aspirations for all children as well as inspire a love of learning and is intended to leave lasting magical memories for our children.  Additional activities and opportunities to the taught curriculum allow children to explore their special interests and skills and also to discover new ones

Blackrod Church School is an outstanding church school (SIAMS 2016) and a 'good' Ofsted school (Ofsted 2016).  We help children to understand and live out our Christian values every day. However, it is important to note, that we warmly welcome children of all faiths and equally those who have none.

Of course, the best way to find out about us is to visit. Interested visitors are warmly welcome. Please make an appointment with the office. If you'd like to see our prospectus we will happily post one out to you or you can see it by clicking on About Us / Key Information / School Prospectus.

It would be really great to meet you, we are incredibly proud of our school and children and look forward to showing you round.
